performative installation
electrical outlet switches, speakers, microphone, acrylic sheets, sound, ice, water
‘[…] The cursory sound made by turning a switch, set in motion the audioperformance presented by Lee during the graduation show. Next to a text made of ice titled as long the performance laid bare a subtle tension between an analog and electronic auditory realm, masterfully integrating the coexisting soundscape, electronic echos and digital manipulations into a broad and convincing composition. Lee’s work takes hold of the space, she is at one with the devices she uses and is able to become contained by the performance. She seems to be able to grasp something situated between the perceptible and the imperceptible with her light, sensitive interaction and good timing. At the end of her performance a puddle of water is left where the work made of ice first stood; altogether bringing to the fore an omniversal association of mind and matter in eternally circulating processes.’
